Check Points in Belize

There are quite a few Check points around the country of Belize. They are almost always in the same location.

In most cases, these check points are only placed there by the Traffic Department in order to check that the vehicles on the road all have license and insurance. All vehicles on the road requires these. Dont worry all rental vehicles in Belize will have both these documents.

Dont worry, the Check Points and other officers in Belize are not known to be like officers from other territories who are known for being unfair or looking for bribes. In Belize you will not be stopped for petty offences; instead, it is more likely that you will be excused for small mistakes since you are a visitor to our country.

The traffic officers and police man at the check points will only look at the vehicle and say hi and remind you drive safely. They are also handy for directions.
